Was Debra Davis a woman scorned, or a concerned friend? The attorney representing Davis, who is charged with the murder of a man initially reported to be her husband, said it’s actually the latter. Davis, 58, who is accused of shooting Rodney Johnson to death outside a Sunnyside home in the 9400 block of Cathedral Drive on Tuesday night, appeared in court on Friday. She was released on $50,000 bail Thursday after turning herself into police Wednesday morning.

Anthony Rideau, 42, is facing up to life in prison for allegedly killing Aaron McMahon, 31, and assaulting his father Michael McMahon with a tire iron in August 2015. Rideau’s defense attorney Emily Detoto told jurors he was acting in self-defense after the McMahons instigated the fight. She also claims one of the McMahons started to open a switchblade during the altercation. “The facts in this case are facts,” Detoto said in court. “I agree with some of what (the prosecutor) said.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Michael Warren pled guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; he shot his ex-girlfriend, Sylvia Casares, the “Enchilada Queen” who operates two locations of Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen, outside her home in Fulshear in March 2012. Casares was shot in the abdomen and taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. She spent more than two months recuperating from the injuries.

Senovia Medina was 37 and three months pregnant when she disappeared Jan. 5, 2006, after dropping off food at her mother’s home in southwest Houston. A key suspect in her disappearance told investigators last week that he buried her body somewhere in the Waller County field, officials said.
